As temperatures rise, our pets are more at risk of heatstroke. Five simple habits keep them safe.

- Cool, clean waterAvailable all the time.
- A cool, shaded spotAway from direct sun and hot places.
- No walks at peak heatEspecially between 11:00 and 16:00.
- Never leave them in the carNot even for a few minutes.
- Know the danger signsHeavy panting, lethargy, vomiting, dark red gums.
Winter tips
Stay warm and cosy, little friend!
Cold nights, rain and heaters bring their own risks. Puppies, kittens, older pets and short-haired breeds feel the cold the most.

- A warm, dry bed indoorsOff the cold floor and away from draughts. Bring outdoor pets in on cold nights.
- Careful with heaters and stovesKeep pets at a safe distance to avoid burns, and keep rooms with heaters ventilated.
- Knock on the car bonnetCats sleep near warm engines. Tap the bonnet before you start the car.
- Antifreeze is poisonousIt tastes sweet to pets. Wipe up spills and store it out of reach.
- Dry paws, fresh waterTowel off wet fur and paws after walks, and make sure water bowls never freeze.
- Know the danger signsStrong shivering, weakness or sleepiness, cold ears and paws, pale gums.
